Our Vision
Trauma can rock the very foundations of what we have built our life on. And if our foundation was not strong to begin with, we can live with a continual cycle of generational trauma. We believe that good parenting begins with strong foundations, so our aim is to help parents break cycles of generational trauma. In a world that feels more and more culturally-driven, ParentFuel also aims to equip parents to feel confident to become spiritual leaders in their own homes. We have a long-term vision to serve communities so that Jesus will be made known for many generations to come.

Our Story
Dawn’s journey began in 1999, working with young people at risk of school exclusion. During that time, God broke her heart for those who are lost, hurting, and overlooked. In 2007, life changed dramatically when Dawn became a solo parent to two toddlers, with a baby on the way. As she navigated the challenges of raising children alone, she became deeply interested in how trauma and abuse can echo through generations. A survivor of both childhood and adult domestic violence, Dawn began to explore how generational patterns shape the way we parent and how cycles can be broken through healing, faith, and community. In 2023, ParentFuel was born out of a grassroots project supporting solo parents. What started as a simple idea has grown into a movement to empower families through faith, connection, and practical support.

Dawn
Dawn has spent over 25 years supporting churches, families, and communities across the UK. She began working with young people on the verge of exclusion, then led a Sunday children’s ministry where attendance grew from just a handful to over 70 regular children in three years. She has worked as a Children and Families Worker, advised hundreds of churches as a diocesan consultant, and developed national programmes with Jesus Shaped People. For over a decade, she has trained and written for Messy Church, helping churches engage families in practical, creative ways. More recently, Dawn has focused on parenting and family wellbeing, writing for Premier NexGen and regularly sharing her insights as a parenting expert on Premier Christian Radio. With qualifications in Children’s Ministry, Law, Evangelism & Apologetics (Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics), Play Therapy, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Brain Story, and trauma-informed practice, Dawn combines practical experience, local church knowledge, and a heart for families. Through ParentFuel, she helps churches in Bolton and beyond strengthen family ministry, grow healthy connections, and support children, parents, and the wider community.
Meet the Trustees
ParentFuel has the most amazing group of people who serve as part of the Board of Trustees. They help guide, advise and pray for both the project and the people who ParentFuel reaches.
